
Volunteer as a Bus Mechanic
Overview
Bus Mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and restoration of our vintage fleet. This includes inspections, regular and preventative maintenance, repairs, test drives, and assisting with restoration projects.
Responsibilities
★ Perform inspections and routine maintenance on vintage buses
★ Carry out preventative maintenance to ensure vehicle reliability and safety
★ Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and structural issues
★ Conduct test drives to verify repairs and performance
★ Assist with restoration projects, including sourcing and fitting vintage parts
★ Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and restoration work
★ Work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff to preserve the fleet
Requirements
✓ Strong working mechanical knowledge
✓ Experience with motor vehicles, particularly heavy commercial vehicles
✓ Familiarity with vintage vehicles, vintage electric systems, and relevant manufacturers (an asset, but not required)
Certifications
Formal certification is not required to volunteer in this role. However, holding a Diesel Engine Mechanic or Truck and Transport Mechanic certification is considered an asset.
