(BC) | G.M.C. | T6H5308N | 1974 | Surrey Transit Ctr | | RETIRED | ex Kensington Transit Centre 5938 in 1976; 7918-damaged severely in 6/83 when hydro transformer crashed through roof. Repaired by taking the front section of a TTC TDH5301 and grafting it onto C118 at the A2 upright (centre of first passenger window. The 5301 front end was disassembled, as the frame and panels were 6" too wide. Some electrical work was needed to change the dashboard to that of a 5308. Destination sign equipment, inside sign door, w/w bulkhead door (w. serial plate), front doors, left electrical panel and seats were salvaged and fitted into the new front.
The roof of the new front end was sky blue originally, as opposed to 7918's factory oyster white. MTOC "went to Irly Bird" for new formica (to quote JB) and replace the roof forward of rear doors. The new roof is gold flake only (no starburst).
